3 Fremont Students Win $3200 Scholarships
The students were chosen for the awards by the National Honor Society.
FREMONT, CA — Three Fremont students have been awarded 2024 Scholarships from the National Honor Society. Each has been named a Semi-Finalist, with an award of $3200.
The winning students are —
- Audrey Wang, Mission San Jose High School
- Shirley Fan, BASIS Independent Fremont
- Aidan Peter, BASIS Independent Fremont
Three of the 25 semi-finalists are from California. The closest to the Bay Area is a student in Modesto, in the Central Valley. The other two are Southern California residents.
The National Honor Society has been around for over 100 years. Beyond scholarship, the chapters emphasize service, leadership, and character with some 1.4 million students participating.
Each year, the average chapter contributes:
- 1,000 hours of school/community service
- $26,000 in charitable donations
- 1,000 pounds of food to local, state, and national causes
- 100 pints of blood
