Proposed Cricket Field In Fremont Stirring Up Debate: Report
The field would be part of a land development project off Palm Avenue, according to multiple news reports.
FREMONT, CA — The potential construction of a new cricket field in Fremont has sparked debate among community members, according to news reports by KRON4 and The Mercury News.
The field would be part of a development project off Palm Avenue that would see 13 acres of land transformed into a new community park, according to the reports.
The proposal for the park includes a sports complex with a cricket field, pickleball courts and basketball courts, according to the reports.

While some residents support the project, saying Fremont needs more facilities for the dozens of cricket teams based in the area, others see it as a nuisance, according to the reports. The city currently has a cricket facility in Central Park.
“It just seems so negligent to us,” Phil Leung, one of several neighborhood residents rallying against the proposed cricket field, told The Mercury News. “It’s just like ‘Field of Dreams.’ If you build it, people will come.”
