Robbers Beat Store Employee After Stealing Alcohol, Peeing Thief, Crypto Scam: Fremont Crime

FREMONT, CA — Police in Fremont have released their weekly crime summary. Here's what you may have missed.

From Nov. 11 to Nov. 17, there were:

  • 1,759 Calls For Service
  • 40 arrests
  • 211 crime reports taken
  • 40 crashes

  • Rock Assault

Fremont police say they arrested a suspect who beat another person up and then struck them with a rock afterward.

The assault happened in the area of Walnut Avenue and Paseo Padre Parkway on Nov. 12. It's unclear what prompted the assault.

The suspect was taken into custody nearby while the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

  • Crypto Scam

A Fremont resident was scammed out of money by someone claiming they had a warrant out for their arrest, police said.

The suspect, pretending to be from a consulate, told the victim that they had an outstanding warrant for their arrest and told them they needed to pay it in the form of cryptocurrency, police said.

It's unclear how much money the Fremont resident was scammed out of. They reported the incident on Nov. 12.

  • Violent Robbery

Police say they're searching for a group of people who stole alcohol from a convenience store and then beat an employee who tried to stop them.

The assault happened on Nov. 12 at a convenience store in the area of Mowry Avenue, police said. Two store employees tried to stop the group, but members of the group battered one of the employees and threatened the other, police said. The suspects then drove away.

  • Peeing Theft

A man was arrested after peeing and stealing from a drug store, police said.

The theft happened at a drug store along Paseo Padre Parkway, police said. The suspect entered the store, laid down on the floor in front of a display and then peed, police said.

The suspect then took several makeup items from the display and placed them in his pants before leaving the store, police said.

Officers located him nearby and took him into custody in connection with the theft, police said.
