Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested In Fremont

The crime happened in another East Bay city, according to authorities.

FREMONT, CA — A 31-year-old Lathrop man suspected of assaulting his girlfriend last month in San Leandro was charged Thursday with crimes that include felony domestic violence, authorities said.

The assault was reported on April 19 in the 100 block of Haas Avenue in San Leandro, where San Leandro police found the victim with injuries to her face. The suspect allegedly held her against her will and sexually assaulted her, the victim told police.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, and after a surveillance operation he was arrested Wednesday by undercover detectives in Fremont. The suspect allegedly confessed during an interview, police said.

On Thursday, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged the man with felony domestic violence, false imprisonment, and forcible sexual battery.
