Bolsa Road Crash Victim Identified
One man died and two others were injured in the July 18 solo-vehicle crash near Gilroy.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — A man who died in a fatal crash last Wednesday in unincorporated Santa Clara County has been identified by the county medical examiner's office as Guillermo Ponce Cruz, 31, of Coachella in Southern California. The solo-vehicle crash happened at 615 Bolsa Road near Gilroy at 2:57 p.m. July 18, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Pedro Gutierrez Flores, 23, of Mecca, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet with Cruz and two other passengers when he veered off the road and crashed into a concrete pillar.
Cruz died on the scene and Flores and two passengers in the backseat, ages 22 and 55, suffered major injuries.

The three men were extricated from the vehicle and flown to Regional Medical Center of San Jose.
The CHP is investigating the crash and said alcohol may be a factor.
