Gilroy Man Injured In San Jose Big-Rig Crash: CHP

The truck's trailer overturned Tuesday and came to a rest in the fourth and fifth lanes of U.S. Highway 101 and the ramp to Highway 101.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — A 56-year-old Gilroy man suffered major injuries after crashing a big-rig Tuesday afternoon in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol reported. Sergio Zepeda was traveling from southbound Interstate Highway 880 to southbound U.S. Highway 101 when he lost control of a 2009 Volvo 18-wheeler and its trailer began leaning to the left, according to the CHP.

The trailer overturned and along with the tractor came to a rest blocking the fourth and fifth lanes of Highway 101 and the ramp to Highway 101.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Zepeda was taken to Regional Medical Center in San Jose with cuts to his arm and face and he complained about pain in his ribs, according to the CHP.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
