Gilroy Man Sentenced In Crash Death Of King City Woman

BREAKING: The 32-year-old was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter in a 2016 collision on state Highway 198 south of Pine Valley Road.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — A Gilroy man was sentenced on Wednesday to five years and four months in prison for a vehicular manslaughter conviction in the death of a King City woman in a vehicle collision last year, Monterey County prosecutors said. Drew Elliott Trantow-Pearson, 32, will need to serve 85 percent of
his sentence before being eligible for parole.

Trantow-Pearson was found to be driving under the influence in a collision on state Highway 198 south of Pine Valley Road east of King City that killed 25-year-old Aracely Tamayo Rangel on Feb. 28, 2016.

Prosecutors said Trantow-Pearson was driving west on the highway when he swerved into the eastbound lanes and hit Rangel's vehicle, which was being driven by her husband. He suffered fractured ribs and other minor injuries while their 1-year-old child suffered minor injuries. She died at the scene.
