Second Suspect Arrested In Connection With Gilroy Fatal Shooting

Police served search warrants at three locations in Gilroy on Tuesday probing a fatal shooting at a Halloween party.

GILROY, CA — Gilroy police arrested a second suspect Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting at a Halloween party at the residence of a city councilmember.

Lucas James Tomasetti, 18, was arrested on a charge of felon/prohibited person in possession of a firearm after police served search warrants at three locations in Gilroy: the 9200 block of Calle Del Rey, the 8800 block of Fuchsia Court and the 7600 block of Rosanna Street.

It is unclear if the firearm was used in the shooting, according to police.

On Oct. 30 around 12:55 a.m., police received a 911 call of a shooting on the 400 block of Los Animas Avenue in Gilroy, the Gilroy Police Department said in a statement on Sunday. After arriving at the large outdoor party, officers learned that an altercation had escalated into a shooting at the gathering.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's office identified the victim killed in the shooting 18-year-old Michael Daniel Zuniga-Macias. Zuniga-Macias was one of four people shot at the residence of Gilroy councilmember Rebeca Armendariz.
