Airline To Offer 2 More Nonstop Flights From Sonoma County Airport

SANTA ROSA, CA — Avelo Airlines will add two new non-stop destinations from the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport STS to Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ontario, California, the airport announced Wednesday.

The move expands on Avelo's recent crew base announcement and continues to highlight Sonoma County's value and importance as a destination and regional transportation hub, county officals said. With the additions, STS now offers direct flights to 15 destinations across the western United States.

"As our beloved airport continues to grow, I’m delighted to see more destinations offered by Avelo Airlines," said District 4 Supervisor James Gore, who represents the airport area. "These will be great additions for the residents of Sonoma County."

The two new routes will begin in October 2024 and will operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Avelo's nonstop flights to Ontario and Salt Lake City will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. The Ontario flights will start Oct. 10 and the Salt Lake City flights will begin Oct. 24.

"These highly requested destinations enhance both the convenience and connectivity of STS, and we look forward to their success."

With the new additions, Avelo will serve nine nonstop destinations from Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport: Bend/Redmond, OR (RDM); Boise, ID (BOI); Kalispell, MT (FCA); Las Vegas, NV (LAS); Los Angeles/Burbank, CA (BUR); Ontario, CA (ONT); Palm Springs, CA (PSP); Salem, OR (SLE); and Salt Lake City, UT (SLC).

With the opening in May of the Avelo Airlines crew base in Santa Rosa, two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft are based here, as are the crewmembers needed to service the aircraft, including pilots, flight attendants, and aviation maintenance technicians.

Avelo operates 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft serving 43 U.S. destinations out of crew bases at the Hollywood Burbank Airport, the Tweed-New Haven Airport in Southern Connecticut, the New Castle Airport in Delaware, the Raleigh–Durham International Airport in North Carolina, and the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa.
