Edible Souvenirs And Wearable Autumnal Love At Two h2hotel Workshops in Healdsburg

Learn how to savor the sweet taste of harvest and the beauty of fall at 2 intimate h2hotel workshops.

HEALDSBURG, CA —Spiced pumpkin butter, a packet of recipes, and new culinary know-how are one way to offset the rain this fall. Learning how to use fall foliage is another.

The skills for both approaches will be offered during workshops at the h2hotel in Healdsburg, where participants can wear their love of fall on their sleeve — or create an edible souvenir.

The first event, Sweet Taste of the Harvest: Fall Foods Workshop, will be led by Lisal Moran of Parker Hill Provisions on Oct. 25.

Moran was , until recently, head instructor at Quail & Condor bakery in Healdsburg. She learned her skills at Spruce in San Francisco, Station 1 in Woodside, and Baumé in Palo Alto.

Moran will walk participants through crafting three seasonal treats – fall fruit zeppole, cabernet granita, and spiced pumpkin butter - and share tips on preserving fall produce, adding a gourmet touch to pantry staples, and pairing ingredients like a pro.

Guests will take home their jar of spiced pumpkin butter, a packet of recipes, and new culinary know-how to bring the taste of Sonoma’s harvest into their own kitchens.

Local wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served to go with the experience.

Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased on Eventbrite.

The second event, Fall Foliage to Fashion: Leaf Printing Workshop, is scheduled for Nov. 9.

The four-hour session is a hands-on exploration of the art of leaf printing with Lisa Rogers of Slow Digz. Guests will craft leaf prints using fall foliage gathered in Sonoma County on a prepared — pre-mordanted — 11-by-60-inch silk textile.

Rogers will show participants how to use steam, natural tannins, and iron to transfer leaf pigments directly onto silk including foliage like eucalyptus, oak, redwood, smokebush, maple, dogwood and chestnut leaves.

The finished pieces can be turned into a scarf, runner, or wall hanging that carry part of Sonoma County with them.

As pieces simmer, participants will have a chance to practice their new skills on paper with leaves and grapevines while enjoying a bite to eat, a glass of local wine, or a seasonal mocktail with each other, whether visitor or resident.

Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased on Eventbrite.

Each event is limited to an intimate group of 10 people.

The h2hotel created a Harvest Workshop Stay Package to complement the workshops.
