Forestville Man Identified In Fatal Crash Near Santa Rosa

CHP is investigating impairment or a medical or mechanical issue as a possible cause of the fatal crash into a tree.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who died in a solo-vehicle crash north of Santa Rosa on Monday as Robert Paul Lieb, 71, of Forestville. Lieb was driving an older model Chevrolet Suburban when he failed to negotiate a sharp left turn and crashed into a tree on Slusser Road north of River Road north of Santa Rosa around 1:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Jon Sloat said.

Rincon Valley Fire Protection District firefighters responded and declared Lieb dead at the scene, Sloat said.

The CHP is investigating impairment or a medical or mechanical issue as a possible cause of the crash.
