While plans for the park are ongoing, the city is now accepting suggestions of names for the park, and those who are interested in submitting their ideas can easily do so on the city's website or by clicking here before Sunday, Oct. 29.

There are a few rules to remember when submitting name suggestions, first and foremost, the city said the process of naming parks in Healdsburg is "guided by principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to represent the entire community."

While prioritizing names with local significance, the option of names with broader connections to California or the nation is open, provided it aligns with the Park Naming Policy.

One other important rule to remember include park names cannot duplicate those of existing school sites or public facilities, unless the sites are adjacent. Interested parties can submit more than one proposal, the city said.

After the submission period ends, the city's Parks and Recreation committee will review the proposals and narrow them down to four or five options which will then be presented to city council which will make the final decision.

Once a final decision has been made, the name will be announced during a public city meeting, the city said.
