Healdsburg Man Arrested On Drug Charges In Local Park: Police

Police said an officer was doing a security check when he noticed a suspicious car with the engine running and the driver asleep.

HEALDSBURG, CA—A man was arrested Sunday in Badger Park on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance for sale and other charges, Healdsburg police said.

Around 3:25 p.m., an officer was conducting a security check at the park on Heron Drive when he noticed a car with the engine running. The driver appeared to be asleep or passed out inside the car, police said.

It is alleged that as the officer contacted the driver and woke him up, drug paraphernalia was in plain view.

In a search of the car, it is alleged officers found four suspected methamphetamine pipes, two containers with suspected meth, and an open 40-oz. of beer.

A BB gun closely resembling a firearm was also found, police said.

Thomas Flugard, 45, of Healdsburg, was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance for sale with an enhancement due to a prior conviction requiring him to register as a sex offender, police said.

Jail records Friday indicated Flugard was no longer in custody.
