These volunteer roles help shape local parks, recreation programs, and services for older adults, giving community members a direct voice in city decisions. Applications are available on the city website or via the City Clerk.
   

2. Zip-Tied Crate of Puppies Abandoned On Healdsburg Roadside (patch.com) — Eight young dogs were abandoned in a zip-tied crate along West Side Road in Healdsburg, with one puppy still missing after running off when officers arrived. Police brought the others to the Healdsburg Animal Shelter, and they’re now with Sonoma County Animal Services. Officials urge anyone needing to rehome pets to work with shelters instead of leaving animals unattended.
   

3. Cazadero bakery owner ready to rebuild after redwood crushes parts of property (pressdemocrat.com) — A powerful windstorm that toppled a massive redwood onto a beloved Cazadero bakery property also brought tree damage to nearby communities, including parked cars hit at University and Lincoln streets in Healdsburg. Bakery owner Mark Weiss is already planning repairs with help from neighbors and a successful fundraiser, turning a frightening Christmas Eve into a story of resilience and community support.
   

4. Behind the deals: San Rafael biotech building bought; Santa Rosa spirits warehouse expansion (fresnobee.com) — A former Healdsburg-based pickling operation, Sonoma Brinery, was moved to Santa Rosa by its new owner and later closed, and that facility has now been subleased by growing distiller Corning & Company for extra warehouse space.
