  1. Here's how Healdsburg is honoring Veterans Day. First, the local Rotary Club hosted an early breakfast this morning at their annex for veterans. And later this morning at 10 a.m., the annual "Honors Team" event will be held at the plaza to "honor all the women and men who have served our great country." There's also a huge parade and flyover down in Petaluma starting at noon; Healdsburg's American Legion Post 111 will ride in the parade. And tonight, as is tradition, the Healdsburg Community Band is heading down to the Cloverdale to play at Veterans Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. All city offices, schools and the library will be closed today, FYI. 2. Healdsburg winemaker Jesse Katz just set the record for the most expensive single bottle of wine sold at an auction, according to Sonoma Magazine. The buyer, Don Steiner, reportedly paid a whopping $1 million for a six-liter bottle of "The Setting Wines 2019 Glass Slipper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon" at a recent charity event down in New Orleans. The 36-year-old winemaker is co-founder of Setting Wines, founder of Healdsburg's Aperture Cellars and "recently built Aperture Estate, an avant-garde production facility and tasting room south of Healdsburg, with investment assistance from Houston Astros owner Jim Crane," Sonoma Mag reports. Katz also "produces estate wines for Montage Healdsburg" and "designed the hotel property’s vineyard." (Sonoma Magazine)
  3. There's another big, 11-acre prescribed burn coming up this weekend at Healdsburg's Rio Lindo Academy, nestled along a Russian River bend near Fitch Mountain. The burn is scheduled to begin around 9:30 a.m. and "should be concluded by 4 p.m., with resources staying at the fire as needed based on burning conditions," fire officials say. Here's a map of the planned burn area. (Facebook)
