Sonoma County Measure On Track To Pass: Early Election Results

HEALDSBURG, CA —Votes have been cast in Tuesday's presidential primary election and polls officially closed at 8 p.m. in Sonoma County and across California.

Sonoma County election results released at 9:59 p.m. showed Sonoma County Measure H passing with 61.33 percent voting yes and 38.67 percent voting no. A simple majority was needed for the half-cent sales tax measure to pass. The sales tax is expected to generate $60 million annually to improve and enhance local fire prevention, protection, emergency paramedic services and disaster response throughout Sonoma County.

In the race for U.S. House of Representatives, District 2, Incumbent Jared Huffman had a commanding lead of 74.44 percent of votes, the early results showed. Republican challenger Chris Coulombe was in distant second place with 16.31 percent of votes.

In the race for California State Assembly District 3, Democrat Chris Rogers led with 31.38 percent of votes, according to early results. Republican Michael Greer was in second with 22.49 percent while Democrat Ariel Kelley had 17.77 percent of votes.
