A 72-year-old Santa Rosa woman was killed Thursday morning when she was run over by a truck in the parking lot of the Airport Health Club south of Windsor, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The woman was walking from her car to the entrance of the club at 432 Aviation Blvd. around 7:05 a.m. when she was hit by a Toyota Tundra driven by a 40-year-old Windsor man, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The Windsor man, who was just arriving at the club, was backing up slowly through the parking lot when he felt an impact, Sloat said. He then pulled forward.

"It's believed he ran over the woman a second time," Sloat said.

When the driver realized what happened, he got out of his truck and saw the woman on the ground, Sloat said.

Medics from the Rincon Valley Fire Department arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

It does not appear alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, Sloat said.

The CHP is reviewing video footage captured by a camera at the health club, Sloat said.
