Music Video to Promote United Matriarchy Nations
Music video in production to promote non-profit United Matriarchy Nations

Production company Maeya Films will create a promotional music video for non-profit United Matriarchy Nations. UMN is a non-profit dedicated to preserving matriarchal cultures.
Internationally, there are multiple cultures that are traditionally matrilineal. Some are large, such as the Minangkabau, with 8 million people across Southeast Asia. Others, including Kihnu, off the coast of Estonia, have a population of less than a thousand. All struggle to keep their traditions alive during a time of rapid change.

Matriarchal cultures predominantly reside in rural areas, where job opportunities are slim. Many young people emigrate to cities for better employment opportunities. This separation from their communities prevents them from gaining cultural knowledge from their elders, such as traditional crafts and language. Young people also face problems of low literacy and graduation rates.

United Matriarchy Nations plans to teach villagers technology skills and digital literacy. This will allow them to work remotely, expanding their job opportunities while staying in their communities.
In addition, UMN will partner with Maeya Films to create films featuring these cultures. Maeya Films has already produced โOn Matriarchy Lakeโ, about the Mosuo people in China. It was filmed on location in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces and featured a predominantly Mosuo cast and crew. The company plans to use their experience to give other cultures a voice in Hollywood.
