What's New On Netflix: June 2022

The day is postcard perfect, there’s not a cloud in the sky. Yes, no doubt, what a wonderful time to be outside while the birds are chirping. But wait! Not so fast! Don't forget to also enjoy all the pizzazz of Netflix’s June releases.

In the coming weeks, a number of highly anticipated original movies will dominate the binging landscape. They include “Spiderhead,” an action-crime thriller based on George Saunders’ short story, starring Chris Hemsworth as a scientist experimenting with the efficacy and effects of a mind-altering drug in humans, including two penitentiary inmates (Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett). Another is “Hustle,” a sports drama starring Adam Sandler as a has-been, washed-up basketball coach struggling to get his rhythm back in life.

Netflix also welcomes the arrival of the original film “Interceptor.” The action adventure stars Elsa Pataki as an army commander who uses her tactical expertise to stop attacks that threaten a missile interceptor base.

Looking for a coming-of-age romantic comedy? “Love & Gelato” is a feel-good movie, starring Susanna Skaggs as a recent high school graduate who spends her summer in Rome to fulfill her mother’s last dying wish. Can love — and gelato — conquer all?

Jennifer Lopez fans are in for a treat. The Netflix docu-film “Halftime” chronicles the megastar’s rise to stardom from her humble beginnings to her halftime show at 2020’s Super Bowl.

Among a slate of much-awaited TV shows coming to Netflix this month are the comedy series “God’s Favorite Idiot" (Season 1), the superhero series “The Umbrella Academy” (Season 3), the multi-cam sitcom “The Upshaws” (Season 2), "Peaky Blinders" (Season 6), and a new iteration of the popular “Iron Chef” series called “A Quest for an Iron Legend.”
