20-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed On Ortega Highway Near Lake Elsinore

According to the CHP, the man was riding his 2023 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle​ eastbound on the Ortega when he failed to negotiate a curve.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A motorcyclist who died over the weekend on the Ortega Highway, just west of Lake Elsinore, was identified Monday by the coroner's office.

Arnulfo Nungaray of Eastvale was pronounced dead at about 4:32 p.m. Sunday at the crash scene, which the coroner said was on the state Route, about 1.2 miles west of Grand Avenue, in unincorporated Lake Elsinore.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Nungaray was riding his 2023 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle eastbound on the Ortega at an unknown speed when he failed to safely navigate a lefthand curve.

It was approximately 4:17 p.m. when Nungaray and his bike went off the highway, striking the wood and metal guardrail. Nungaray was ejected and pronounced dead moments later by first responders, according to the CHP.

The CHP's Temecula Area office is conducting the crash investigation.
