Achieve the American Dream of Homeownership, Free Saturday Morning Workshop, Aug. 23rd, with expert speakers

Topics on Aug. 23rd: why use a realtor, what's fair housing, the home buying process, down payment and closing-cost assistance, loan process

The Greater San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) and the SDAR Housing Opportunities Committee will present an in-person informative workshop titled, “The Pathway to Homeownership” from 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the East San Diego Masonic Lodge, 7849 Tommy Dr., located in San Diego’s San Carlos community. The event is free and open to the public.

The workshop will cover the essential steps of homeownership. Industry experts will share tools, tips and resources to help home shoppers achieve their dream of owning a home.

Speakers and their topics will include: Chris Anderson, SDAR president, on why use a realtor; SDAR member Wayne Woodward on understanding fair housing; SDAR member Scott Vinson II on the home buying process; Carrie Tapia with the San Diego Housing Commission on down payment and closing-cost assistance programs; Derek Barksdale, founder and broker with Military Mutual, on the loan process.

The workshop is a chance for people interested in owning a home to connect with professionals, ask questions and leave informed, according to SDAR. Light refreshments and a continental breakfast will be served.
