Grossmont High School Band Trailer Revitalized by The Junk Medics, Other Local Businesses
Trailer restoration highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting public school arts programs.

LA MESA, Calif., November 17, 2025 — The Junk Medics, a family-owned junk removal company based in La Mesa, California, has partnered with Davis Roofing and Lloyd’s Collision to restore Grossmont High School’s band trailer after learning it had fallen into disrepair. The newly refurbished trailer, which will once again transport instruments and equipment to competitions and performances, reflects The Junk Medics’ ongoing commitment to community service.
What began as a casual conversation with Cher Rios and Sandy Early, Grossmont Royal Instrumental Music Booster Association board members, in August quickly became a community project rooted in service and teamwork. Granados took on the restoration himself, repairing and rebuilding the trailer with the help of his staff. He partnered with Mike Davis, owner of Davis Roofing, who donated lumber, and Mike Lloyd, owner of Lloyd’s Collision Center, who contributed a fresh paint job to complete the transformation.
“Community is what our business is built on,” said Carlos Granados, owner of The Junk Medics. “When we saw the opportunity to help the students at Grossmont High, we didn’t hesitate. The band puts their heart into representing our community and they deserve to do so with tools that bring them pride.”

The project highlights how local businesses can play an active role in strengthening their communities. When businesses work together, they not only solve problems but can also create lasting benefits beyond their everyday services.
“Our trailer is more than just transportation. It’s what makes it possible for our students to compete, perform and represent Grossmont High School across the region,” said James Villegas, Grossmont High School Band Director. “Carlos and his team didn’t just fix a trailer, they gave our students back a sense of pride and possibility. It’s inspiring to see local businesses step in to make that kind of difference.”

In addition to partnerships like this, The Junk Medics regularly organize and participate in local cleanup initiatives, helping to keep parks, schools and neighborhoods beautiful and safe.
“Helping people is what we do; whether that’s hauling away clutter, cleaning up a neighborhood, or rebuilding a band trailer,” added Granados. “It’s all part of giving back to the community we love.”
