San Diego Football Coach, Newly- Elected City Councilman Dies Suddenly
The coach at Helix High School and Lemon Grove City Councilman has died, the city he served shared.
LEMON GROVE, CA — Helix High School football coach and newly installed Lemon Grove City Councilman Sitivi Faiai, suddenly died Tuesday, the city announced.
Faiai, who went by "Steve," is survived by his wife and two sons. No other information was immediately available.
"During his service on the City Council, Councilman Faiai brought with him a spirit of integrity, collaboration, and heartfelt commitment," a statement from the city read.

He focused on improving public safety, addressing homelessness, and making further efforts to support youth and families. His priorities reflected a deep sense of community pride and building a cleaner, safer, and more united Lemon Grove."

"I believe that supporting working families through strong leadership is critical for a community that is seeking to improve and repair itself after years of neglect. People's safety needs to be a top priority and I will support all efforts to ensure residents have a cleaner city in which they feel comfortable living."
His supporters reached out on Facebook, sharing their statements of shock and support for his loved ones.
"He was a wonderful person. The world lost a truly kind, amazing man today. Helix football, Lemon Grove and anyone who had the privilege to meet him were lucky. My prayers are with his wife, boys, and family," one commenter said.
