A heatwave lingered, bringing dangerous conditions to some areas of San Diego County. Here's where to go to beat the inland heat.

LA MESA, CA — Thursday was another hot summer day in San Diego County as extreme heat lingered across inland areas and deserts.
In San Diego County, a heat advisory was in effect through 8 p.m. on Thursday in the mountains, valleys, and deserts, where temperatures could reach 100 degrees.

In the San Diego County deserts, temperatures could broach 119 during this current event, meteorologists said.

- Drink plenty of water.

- Find air-conditioned places to cool off, like shopping malls and libraries.

Temperatures are expected to return to near normal by Friday, with further cooling into Saturday, except in the deserts.

The relief will be welcome for San Diegans, but it bears a reminder that summer has arrived and is here to stay.
