MURRIETA, CA — A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after a multi- vehicle crash in Murrieta, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The three-vehicle crash was reported around 3 p.m. Friday on the northbound lanes of the Escondido (215) Freeway just south of Clinton Keith Road.

Witnesses told authorities that a motorcyclist was splitting lanes on northbound I-215 at about 75 mph when he lost control and struck the right rear portion of a Ford F-150 that was towing a utility trailer.

The rider then struck the right side of the utility trailer, ricocheting off and striking the left front tire of a Peterbilt cement mixer, authorities said.

The crash ruptured the left front tire of the cement mixer and caused minor damage to the F-150 and utility trailer.

The motorcycle sustained moderate damage and came to a rest blocking the No. 1 lane of northbound I-215. The motorcyclist suffered major injuries and was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center. The two other drivers involved were uninjured, the CHP said.
