MURRIETA, CA — The 20th Annual Tour de Murrieta hits Southwest Riverside County streets this weekend, starting Saturday and running through Sunday. It features competitive race teams and events for families, spectators, and cycling fans alike.

"Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s Tour de Murrieta features a weekend of exciting downtown races:

Saturday’s lightning-fast Grand Prix on a one-mile course through historic Murrieta and Sunday’s newly updated four-mile Circuit Race made possible by the opening of the Guava Street Bridge.

They are all set against a festive backdrop of live music, food and drinks, an exposition area, and the ever-popular Kids’ Bicycle Race," a spokesperson from Explore Murrieta said.

The Kids’ Race will start on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. in the Murrieta Senior Center parking lot.

"This high-energy event is open to children ages 2 to 12 and encourages kids to hop on their bikes and join the race, with age-appropriate courses and medals awarded to all participants," they said.

The entry fee is a donation of at least one non-perishable canned food item, which benefits the local food bank. This is a chance for young riders to give back while having fun.

Patrick Ellis, President and CEO of Explore Murrieta spoke on the event and what it means to the area.

“Murrieta’s stunning landscapes and endless outdoor opportunities make it the perfect backdrop for the 20th annual Tour de Murrieta. This prestigious cycling event not only attracts top athletes but also showcases the incredible outdoor experiences that make Murrieta a hidden gem,” Ellis said. “We’re thrilled to welcome families, spectators, and racers to experience the beauty and excitement of Murrieta during this milestone year.”

  • Arrive one hour early to register.
  • All riders must wear an approved helmet.
  • Shoulders must be covered.
  • No aero, clip-on, or profile bars are allowed.
  • All participants must complete waivers; all riders participate at their own risk.
