Calistoga Fire Map: See Pickett Fire Perimeter, Evacuation Areas

The fire broke out amid a heat wave and spread quickly, promoting the Napa County Sheriff's Office to issue mandatory evacuations.

CALISTOGA, CA — A wildfire exploded Thursday afternoon near Calistoga, prompting evacuations and scorching more than 1,200 acres.

At 9:35 p.m., evacuation orders and evacuation warnings were issued for residents in the path of the wildfire. The blaze dubbed The Pickett Fire, was 0% contained, according Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.

The Pickett fire was first reported at around 3 p.m. as 2-3 acres from northeastern side of Calistoga to the Silverado Trail, officials said.

By nightfall, it had scorched more than a 1,000 acres, and "Three Helicopters with night flying capabilities will continue working the fire overnight," CalFire announced. "We also have multiple ground resources that will continue with suppression efforts. There are multiple agencies are actively working to control the fire."

At 3:47 p.m., the fire was reported by air attack officials to have a possible spread of 500-1000 acres.

At 4:05 p.m., evacuation orders and evacuation warnings were sent out for Calistoga residents, according to CAL Fire. See the evacuation map below.

At 4:30 p.m., the Calistoga Community Center was opened for evacuees at 1307 Washington Street, Calistoga, according to Alert Napa County.

At 8:25 p.m., Alert Napa Community reported that the Calistoga Community Center was closing and that those seeking overnight sheltering should go to Crosswalk Community Church located at 2590 1st St. in Napa.
