Crews Make Progress On Berry Fire North Of Lake Berryessa

As of 1 p.m., crews had stopped forward progress on the fire after it burned about 67 acres.

NAPA. CA — Cal Fire crews have halted the forward progress of a fire burning north of Lake Berryessa in Napa County on Friday.

The blaze dubbed the Berry Fire was reported at about 10:50 a.m. in the area of Berryessa Knoxville Road.

Cal Fire officials initially said the flames had a "moderate rate of spread" and had covered about 50 acres as of shortly after 11 a.m.

As of 1 p.m., crews had stopped forward progress on the fire after it burned about 67 acres. Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene into the evening hours, according to Cal Fire.

At least 10 fire engines and several crews in helicopters and air tankers responded to the fire. Its cause remains under investigation.
