Driver's Sister Killed In Napa County Crash; DUI Suspected: CHP
A 21-year-old woman crashed a friend's Porsche near Silverado Country Club, killing her 18-year-old sister. DUI is suspected, the CHP said.
NAPA COUNTY, CA — A 21-year-old San Francisco woman allegedly driving under the influence crashed a borrowed Porsche in rural Napa County, killing her 18-year-old sister from North Carolina late Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. Finnuala Hanifan was speeding south in the 1600 block of Atlas Peak Road south of Hardman Road east of Napa when she lost control and struck an irrigation culvert on the west side of the road around 10:45 p.m., CHP officials said.
The Porsche continued south and struck two wooden poles and a traffic signal, overturned and stopped on the west shoulder of Atlas Peak Road, according to the CHP.
Finnuala Hanifan suffered major injuries and was taken by helicopter to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center. Her sister, identified by the Napa County Sheriff's Office as Michaella Margret Hanifan, 18, of Todd, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both women were wearing seat belts and the Porsche's airbags deployed, CHP officials said.
The women were returning to the nearby Silverado Country Club and Spa and had borrowed a friend's Porsche, CHP Sgt. William Bradshaw said.

Finnuala Hanifan is suspected of DUI, Bradshaw said.
The crash knocked out power to 871 PG&E customers.
