NAPA VALLEY, CA — Independence Day is fast approaching so it's time to find out where you can celebrate in and around Napa Valley. Area events include fireworks, festivals and other Fourth of July fun.

July 4 Festivities For 2024
- Napa 4th of July 2024 Celebration: Parade, Festival, Drone Show. Enjoy annual Rotary parade & Oxbow Commons fest.
- 4th Of July Bike Parade, Fest & Fireworks 2024: St. Helena. Community Band concert also on the agenda.
- July 4th Parade, Star-Spangled Social & Laser Light Show 2024: Calistoga. A parade starts the day, then "Stick around for our grand finale laser light show in the park after dark. A spectacular not to be missed!"
- July 4th Parade, Festival & Fireworks 2024: American Canyon. Park festival offers music, free activities & food vendors, too.
- 4th of July Celebration 2024: Yountville. This free celebration is open to all and will include live music, food trucks, and more.
- Annual July 4th 3K & 5K Wine Country Races 2024: Kenwood. "The Kenwood Footrace holds the distinction as the oldest running 10K footrace in California."
- Devils Darlin’s Patriotic Car Cruise 2024: Sonoma To Glen Ellen. Step out to watch and wave at the classic cars and trucks.
- July 4th Independence Day Parade 2024: Downtown Fairfield. The theme for this year’s parade is – “An American Journey”

- July 4th Concert & Fireworks 2024: Hall Park, Dixon. Festivities kick off with Pickleball in the Park & Recreation Swim followed by a concert from Helios and a fireworks show after dark.

The First Fourth Of July
Today, Americans celebrate the birth of a new nation with fireworks, parades, concerts and family gatherings and barbecues. The patriotic events, though, predate by centuries the designation of Independence Day as a federal holiday, which didn’t happen until 1941.
During the pivotal summer of 1776, the pre-Revolutionary celebrations honoring King George III’s birthday were replaced with mock funerals as a symbolic break from the crown.

It was an exciting time in Philadelphia — the Continental Congress voted to break from the crown, and two days later, on July 4, the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the original 13 colonies —New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland. Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia — to adopt the Declaration of Independence.
The inaugural commemoration of the nation’s independence took place July 4, 1777, in Philadelphia while the Revolutionary War was still going on. Ever since that first celebration in Philadelphia, fireworks have been part of the Fourth of July festivities.
