Napa Resident Killed In SR-128 Crash In Sonoma County
The coroner's office identified a Napa man as the driver of a Jeep Liberty who died in a crash east of Healdsburg.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office identified a Napa man as the victim in a fatal crash Monday on state Highway 128 east of Healdsburg.
Damien Mundo Aumada, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on SR-128 just west of La Franchi Road.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, Aumada was driving a red Jeep Liberty SUV eastbound on SR-128 when, for reasons not yet known, he lost control and the Jeep crossed into the opposing westbound lane, the California Highway Patrol said.

"The left side of the Jeep collided into a tree stump on the north side of the roadway," CHP Officer David deRutte said.
Aumada and a male passenger became trapped inside the car. A second male passenger was able to free himself from the wreckage.

The roadway was blocked in both directions as emergency personnel responded.
Firefighter-paramedics tended to Aumada but his injuries were too grave.
The two passengers were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, one with major injuries and the other with minor injuries, deRutte said.
Authorities reopened the roadway around 4:45 p.m. Monday.
"If anyone witnessed this collision, or has any information regarding this collision, please call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400," deRutte said.
