Parents Charged In Toddler's Fentanyl Death: Napa County Sheriff's Office

The 3-year-old, Zayden Schultz, died of acute fentanyl intoxication, police said.

NAPA, CA — The Napa parents of a 3-year-old who was killed almost a year ago by fentanyl poisoning were arrested Friday and charged in connection with his death, according to police.

The boy, Zayden Schultz, died of acute fentanyl intoxication, police said.

His mother, Belen Shroyer-Stephenson, is charged with murder and child endangerment resulting in great bodily injury or death and his father, Timothy Schultz, is charged with child endangerment resulting in great bodily injury or death, police said.

Shroyer-Stephenson was being held without bail and Schult’z bail was set at $1 million, according to police.

The charges come nearly a year after Napa County sheriff’s deputies responded Aug. 15 to a home in the 1600 block of Mary C Drive for a medical emergency involving the unresponsive toddler, police said.
