Vacaville: Man Killed In Big-Rig Crash On I-80: CHP
A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig on eastbound I-80 in Vacaville early Tuesday morning, according to CHP.
VACAVILLE, CA - A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said that around 4:20 a.m., a 2016 Mazda car stopped and blocked an eastbound lane of I-80 east of Leisure Town Road. CHP spokesperson Garrett Pumphrey said that based on preliminary investigation, a 2024 Peterbilt 18-wheeler was also traveling east when it crashed into the Mazda.
The driver of the Mazda, a 58-year-old Stockton man, died. The Peterbilt driver, a 59-year-old Pacifica man, was uninjured.
Nobody else was in either vehicle.

CHP investigators are looking into whether the lights of the Mazda were on at the time of the crash. The driver of the Peterbilt is cooperating with law enforcement, Pumphrey said.
