West Napa Apartment Shooter Sentenced To 23 Years In Prison
A Napa man was sentenced to more than two decades in state prison after injuring a bystander during a 2022 shooting.
NAPA COUNTY, CA — A 23-year-old Napa man will serve over 23 years in prison for a 2022 shooting that injured a bystander in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
According to the Napa County District Attorney's Office, Christopher Santana pleaded no contest to charges that included attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm as part of a plea agreement.
Prosecutors said the incident began when Santana was arguing with another person outside the Laurel Street Apartments in West Napa on Dec. 27, 2022. According to the DA's office, Santana climbed into his vehicle, brandished a handgun, and fired several shots as he drove through the parking lot. The shots missed his intended target, but one struck an innocent bystander in the leg.

The victim was treated for his injuries at Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, and Santana was arrested by Napa authorities three days later. At a sentencing hearing last week, Napa County Superior Court Judge Elia Ortiz handed Santana a sentence of 23 years and 8 months in state prison.
"Mr. Santana chose to place multiple lives in danger with his conduct and will now be held accountable for his actions," said Deputy District Attorney Rolando Mazariegos, who prosecuted the case. "He has no one to blame but himself. His actions will leave a lifetime of trauma to the victims and witnesses of this violent event, including law-abiding, hardworking families residing in and near the apartment complex where the shooting occurred."
