Run4Sharks & Ocean Health Fair 5k/1mi Fun Run

Fundraising to support Shark Stewards youth education programs

I am a local shark survivor. In 2016 I was swimming at Corona Del Mar state beach on Memorial Day weekend. The water was murky and I didn’t see it coming but felt piercing pain in my whole body. I realized at once it was probably a shark and called at the top of my lungs to LifeGaurds in a boat close by, “Get me out! Get me out!” I was lucky, they saw me and quickly came to my aid. Chris Lowe from CSLB identified my Shark as a juvenile great white 8-10 ft. Soon after I met David McGuire from Shark Stewards, a marine biologist. I wanted to learn more about sharks and started volunteering for him. In 2018 I hosted the 1st Run4Sharks & Ocean Health Fair as a community event. It is a morning of fitness & ocean learning to teach others about the importance of sharks to healthy ocean ecosystems. It also raises funds for Shark Stewards youth education programs both online and now in Orange County with beach cleanups, lectures to schools and launched at South Jr High in Anaheim.

This is our 7th year and I invite you to come out on 10/12/24 at 9am for a 5k/1mi Fun Run and morning of ocean awareness & knowledge with our community partners. Teaching the next generation to be responsible ocean stewards.

Sponsorships & booths still available. To register or get more information go to www.run4sharks.org
