LA's Experimental Indoor Farm Produces Its First Crop
Angelenos have never been so excited about kale.

NORTHRIDGE-CHATSWORTH, CA — The city's first experimental indoor farm on Thursday produced bushels of kale for an excited Northridge audience.
The Los Angeles Police Department, Devonshire PALS center became the site of the city's first experimental indoor farm last year. The farm, which is contained in a shipping container, produced its first crop on Thursday — a bushel of kale.
The bushel of kale had some high profile local helpers, including John Lee, LA city council member; Nancy Sutley, chief sustainability officer for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power; Edgar Sedano, Executive Director of LAPD Devonshire PALS; and kids who participate in the PALS program. The local officials helped harvest the kale.
