Investigators are trying to locate a burglar who broke into a Hercules home and stole about $40,000 in jewelry and hundreds of dollars in cash on Monday, according to police.
Police said the burglary happened sometime between 5:10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Carson Street while the residents were away. A resident returned home to find a rear window broken and the jewelry and $300 in cash gone, police said.
Officers canvassed the neighborhood and collected a DNA sample from the broken window. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Hercules police at (510) 799-8260.
