1 Dead After Multi-Vehicle Crash On Byron Highway in East Contra Costa

One person died after a collision Monday night involving 3 vehicles on a road just outside Byron in east Contra Costa County, the CHP says.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- One person died after a collision Monday evening involving three vehicles on a road just outside the community of Byron in east Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP reported the collision at 6:25 p.m. May 22 on Byron Highway just south of Bruns Road. At least one vehicle involved in the multi-vehicle collision reportedly went into a ditch, CHP officials said. Additionally, one person was taken by helicopter to a hospital with minor injuries.

Information about the victim who died was not immediately available.

Both directions of Bryon Highway were blocked for nearly three hours following the collision. The roadway has since reopened.
