Carjacking, Stabbing In Pleasant Hill Leaves 3 Injured: Police
The carjacking suspect, stabbing victim and a Pleasant Hill police officer all suffered injuries in the incident Monday, police say.

PLEASANT HILL, CA — A man was arrested in Pleasant Hill on Monday after allegedly carjacking and stabbing a man and then attempting to carjack another homeowner in town. Police said the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Andrew Mariani, entered the victim's car that was stopped in traffic at the intersection of Monument Boulevard and Buskirk Avenue at 1:09 p.m. and demanded that the driver take him home.
When the motorist refused, police said the suspect stabbed the victim in the shoulder and then stole his car.
Not long after the carjacking was reported, Mariani was allegedly seen abandoning the vehicle in a west Pleasant Hill neighborhood, according to police. He entered the garage of a home and demanded car keys from the homeowner.

Police said the homeowner ran back inside their home and Mariani fled, allegedly entering another home near the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road and El Rancho Drive before being spotted by police. A foot pursuit ensued and he was eventually taken into custody.
Mariani and an officer suffered minor injuries. The stabbing victim, a 57-year-old Pittsburg man, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment of his injuries and then was released.

Police said he was transported to a hospital for treatment, after which he will be booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary.
