Pleasanton Issues Safety Notice To Residents Re: Drinking Water

Residents of Pleasanton's Castlewood neighborhood are being advised to temporarily use only boiled or bottled water for drinking or cooking.

PLEASANTON, CA -- As of Mon., Oct. 4, residents of the city's Castlewood neighborhood are being advised by city officials to use only boiled or bottled water for drinking or cooking purposes as a safety precaution.

Affected residents will be notified when water is safe to drink, and no longer needs to be boiled before drinking, according to the city.

"Due to the recent water outage, which occurred on 10-4-21, the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Alameda County Health Department, and the Castlewood Water System are advising residents of Castlewood to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution to avoid stomach or intestinal illness," the city explained in a statement posted on its official website.

The affected location includes the entire Castlewood service area, according to the city.

"We will inform you when tests show that water is safe to drink and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 24 to 72 hours," the city announced in a statement."
