'Let's Go Wild' Hike Planned For This Weekend
Are you curious about how to survive and thrive in wild environments, or how to keep yourself from getting lost without using GPS?

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Naturalist and author Jessica Carew Kraft, who wrote "Why we need to be Wild," will lead an adventurous 2-mile hike at Sibley Volcanic Preserve in Oakland this Saturday.
The event was planned by the Friends of San Leandro Creek, who chose the Preserve because it's where San Leandro Creek originates.
If you are not familiar with Kraft's work, during this hike you will "expand your perception of subtle signs in nature so that you can 'read' trees, water paths, shadows, animal signs, and several species of edible plants. We will learn and practice techniques for reading the landscape used by wildlife trackers and all of our ancestors to forage and navigate."
