Deputies Are Still Searching For Answers Years On (patch.com) — Deputies are renewing their call for information in a nearly 30-year-old killing in the unincorporated San Leandro area, where 57-year-old Samuel Canaday was found dead along East 14th Street in 1998. Investigators are asking anyone with memories or tips about his final hours near 168th Avenue and the Corner House restaurant to contact the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, including via anonymous tip lines.
   

2. San Leandro: Student charged with bringing loaded pistol to high school (mercurynews.com) — A San Leandro high school student has been charged after police say a loaded handgun was found in his backpack at Lincoln High School, prompting multiple felony counts. He was arrested in December, later released under court-ordered conditions, and has pleaded not guilty while the case moves forward.
