While Principal Demetrius Ball told the school's student-run it was "disappointing" that someone would try to "divide" and "hurt us," he had nothing but praise for how the students, families and staff came together to combat the issue.
"I am highly impressed with how our students and families showed pride and resilience to conduct a fantastic homecoming parade, then we proceeded to have a dominating performance from our varsity football team and a fun homecoming dance," Ball said in his Bear Facts newsletter dated Oct. 1.

Students, parent volunteers, and Cal High’s custodial team assisted in covering the vandalism to ensure the homecoming parade continued.
“Our students and parents came together and made it happen in such a short amount of time,” Ball said. “I would like to celebrate that perseverance, that Grizzly spirit, like, hey, [the parade] is something that we are passionate about and we’re not going to let this vandal take away our homecoming.”
