6 Santee Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

SANTEE, CA — If you're like many of your Santee neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Santee area.

Here are six local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

Boys and Girls Clubs of East County

Boys and Girls Clubs of East County has developed, implemented and provided activities and programs for youth since 1961. The organization aims to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Santee Food Bank

Santee Food Bank provides Santee residents in need with temporary food assistance. The nonprofit partners with local resources to serve approximately 400 to 450 families and senior residents each month, according to the organization.

Santee Historical Society

Santee Historical Society explores Santee's past to enrich the present and inspire the future. The organization connects people to the past by collecting, preserving and sharing Santee's history.

Santee Lakes Foundation

Santee Lakes Foundation was established to promote the importance of outdoor recreation, conservation and environmental sustainability at Santee Lakes through charitable support recreational programs, habitat restoration and maintenance, environmental education programs, and park improvements and maintenance.

Santee Santas Foundation

Santee Santas Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provided help to community members living within the Santee School District boundaries and in need of assistance. The foundation's signature effort is an annual holiday children's toy and food drive focused on bringing the Christmas spirit to as many as 150-200 families in the community, according to the organization.

Santee School District Foundation

Santee School District Foundation supports literacy, arts, technology and school site grants through fundraising and donations.
