SANTEE, CA — Santee is celebrating summer's near arrival with the return of the Friday Nights Live series at Santee Trolley Square.

The second annual series, which was held on Thursdays last year, serves as an early kick-off to summer with free family fun and entertainment. Friday Nights Live will take place on Fridays this year beginning May 19 through June 9.

"This series of events celebrates the oncoming summer season by providing free entertainment and family fun activities such as face painting, giveaways, crafts, and a rock climbing wall," Special Events Supervisor Becky Lowndes told Patch. "Each Friday will showcase a different performance, so pack a dinner or pick up food at one of the local eateries. You won't want to miss this lineup."
