Rancho San Diego Fire: Steele Fire Wildfire Perimeter, Map
Evacuation orders were lifted in the blaze that scorched the terrain near a high school.

RANCHO SAN DIEGO, CA — Firefighters are still battling the wildfire burning near Rancho San Diego Thursday morning. and gained ground on the brusher overnight.
The blaze, which began at 2 p.m. Wednesday, had reached 85% containment, according to Cal Fire/San Diego Firefighters' 7 a.m. report. The fire began for unknown reasons Star Acres Drive, near Steele Canyon Road in Rancho San Diego, according to Cal Fire.
No injuries had been reported, and no structures were damaged as of Thursday morning.

"Three engines and one hand crew will be mopping up the area. We expect to have the fire one hundred percent contained by the end of today if weather conditions are in our favor," according to a Cal Fire information officer.
All evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted due to improved containment.

However, authorities advised residents returning home to "please be mindful of firefighters who are still working in the area," the San Diego County Sheriff's Office stated.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
