LONGMONT, CO -- A controlled burn that got out of control Saturday afternoon burned approximately 100 acres and threatened several structures near 107th Street and Oxford Road before being extinguished by the Mountain View Fire Department, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department. Winds reportedly caused a farmer to lose control of a ditch burn which spread across the property.

The fire burned approximately 100 acres of grass and a fence, which all belonged to the farmer conducting the burn. It also threatened the main house and some outbuildings on the property before the Mountain View Fire Department extinguished the flames, according to the report.
