Two 9 month old puppies were pulled from the canal after being trapped by the current.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO – Two young dogs were pulled out of a Boulder County water supply canal Wednesday after being trapped by the current.

At around noon, a Northern Water employee called the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Deputies to report two trapped dogs. Sheriff's deputies and Lyons Fire were dispatched to respond to the 4700 block of Highland Drive in unincorporated Boulder County to the Northern Water supply canal, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

The nine-month old Colorado Mountain Dogs were found in the supply canal and unable to get out. The dogs were forced up against the strainer grate due to the current, the sheriff's office said. They had floated approximately one mile downstream before they became trapped against the grate.
