3 Dead After Planes Collide In Midair Over Boulder County: Police
The crash happened Saturday morning just before 9 a.m. near the near 10000 block of Niwot Road.
BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Three people are dead after two planes collided in midair Saturday while flying over Boulder County, authorities said.
Boulder County sheriff's deputies and multiple other agencies responded to an area near 10000 Niwot Rd. shortly before 9 a.m. after receiving several calls about the crash.
The first crashed plane was found on the south side of the 10000 block of Niwot Road, authorities said. Two occupants were on the first plane, and both were dead when first responders arrived on the scene.

The second crashed plane was found on the north side of the 9700 block of Niwot Road. At this time, police confirmed there was one occupant on the second plane. The person was also dead when first responders arrived on the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed one of the aircraft was a single-engine Cessna 172, 9 News reported. The other aircraft type is still unknown.

Authorities will not release the identities of the victim until next of kin are notified, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Niwot Road and Highway 287 at Niwot Road are closed while authorities investigate, according to 9 News.
