All RTD Buses Free For New Year's: Boulder, Denver

Whether you are heading to the big city or out on the town, RTD is waiving all fares for the community this New Year's Eve.

BOULDER, CO -- Once the clock strikes 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve, all rides on the RTD bus system will be free until 3 a.m. on Jan. 2. The program — all-too-aptly dubbed "freeze the keys" as subzero temperatures are forecasted overnight — is an annual service that includes bus, light rail, and regional transit.

If you head to downtown Denver, do note that there will be limited light rail and MallRide service during the fireworks displays that will go off at 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. Due to the displays, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be no light rail service on the D and H light rail lines between the Theatre District/Convention Center and 18th & California/Stout stations or on the L Line between 16th and California/Stout and 20th and Welton Stations.

The free rides will continue until the end of the transit day on Monday, with a holiday/Sunday operating schedule for New Year's Day, and the normal weekday schedule for New Year's Eve. Click on over to the RTD website to plan your itinerary for a — safe — night of revelry.
